The Sky Suite Airport Lounge is an independent waiting lounge accessible to all travelers boarding international flights from the Satellite in the main KLIA 1 terminal at Kuala Lumpur airport (KUL) in Malaysia.

I visited this lounge on Thursday afternoon 29 February 2024 thanks to my Priority Pass card, before a Saudia flight in economy class to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Location, opening hours and entry rules

The Sky Suite Airport Lounge, sometimes called the Sama-Sama Express Lounge, is located in the restricted area of the Satellite in terminal 1, where the international boarding gates C are located. The Satellite is accessible from the main building via the internal train (Aerotrain) or shuttles when the Aerotrain is out of service. The lounge entrance is shared with the Sama-Sama Express hotel, next to gate C05.

I would advise passengers boarding at gates G or H not to go to the Satellite because of the time it takes to get there and back, and I recommend that they use the lounges in the Contact Pier.

The Sky Suite Airport Lounge is open 24 hours a day.

All passengers are admitted, regardless of airline or class of travel. Members of the Priority Pass and DragonPass networks are welcome as part of their membership. Otherwise, access is charged at MYR 184 for 3 hours on site.

Facilities and catering

The Sky Suite Airport Lounge is a vast rectangular room topped by a roof reminiscent of traditional Malaysian wooden houses. Natural light doesn’t penetrate the room, but an effort has been made on decoration and subdued lighting to make the place pleasant.

The front part is laid out like a home cinema, with a few rows of club armchairs and tables facing a large TV screen that was broadcasting a soccer match at this time. The rest of the room is dedicated to catering, with several bunches of chairs and tables. A four-position work counter with height chairs is also provided. The premises are sorely lacking in electrical outlets.

A selection of appetizers, salad ingredients, cheese, mini-sandwiches and fruits are self-serve on shelves. At the buffet, several main courses prepared on site are offered, including fried or butter-marinated chicken, crispy fried vegetables and tomato pasta. Yoghurts, bread, cakes and pastries complete the menu. Drinks include guava and orange juices, coffee and tea, and sodas.

Showers are available at any time in the Sky Suite Airport Lounge, which has several cabins, simply by requesting a towel from the on-site cleaning staff. Hairdryers are available.

Wi-Fi internet connection works well.

Opinion

Relatively uncrowded because outside the circuit of lounges where airlines invite their high-spending or frequent travelers, the Sky Suite Airport Lounge at the Satellite of Kuala Lumpur’s Terminal 1 allows you to wait peacefully away from the hustle and bustle around the boarding gates.

The Sky Suite Airport Lounge’s shower facilities will be appreciated by passengers in transit between two international flights arriving and departing from the same terminal.
