Three “Sky Hub Lounge” are available to all travelers departing from Seoul-Incheon airport (ICN) terminal 1, leaving the capital of South Korea for a foreign destination.

I visited the one in the West Wing early morning on Tuesday 1 October 2019, thanks to my Priority Pass card, while waiting for a China Eastern economy flight to Shanghai.

Location, opening hours and entry rules

Sky Hub Lounge are independent lounges designed for customers outside the circle of privileged airline passengers.

Members of the international Priority Pass, Diners Club and DragonPass programs are welcome in these lounges, along with holders of certain payment or loyalty cards issued by banks and various Korean brands. Admission can also be purchased on the spot for USD 39.

There are three such lounges in terminal 1, all located in the restricted area: West Wing, East Wing and Concourse.

I went to the Sky Hub Lounge West Wing, open daily from 07:00 to 22:00. To find it, head for boarding gate 42, go upstairs and then through the rest area for transit passengers.

Facilities and catering

The center of the rectangular room is a linear arrangement of upright armchairs, each with a small table, designed for individual travelers. Family tables for 4, framed by a bench and more conventional seating, are also available.

On the left-hand side, chairs and work tables line the windows, offering a bird’s-eye view of the terminal’s interior. Two computers are available for self-service.

On the right-hand side, a more partitioned area is equipped with club armchairs for resting or eating in front of the TV.

Electrical outlets are everywhere, and Wi-Fi Internet access is available.

The buffet is located at the back of the room. When I visited at 07:30 in the morning, it offered ingredients to compose a salad, different pasta choices, several beef and chicken dishes. Bread, butter, jam, cereals and fruit are also available for those who prefer a sweeter breakfast. Hot and cold drinks are available, including beer and spirits.

The staff constantly replenish the buffet and clean the tables after each guest leaves, clearing the place quickly for the next visitor.

Opinion

The airport is in its morning rush hour. The busy Sky Hub Lounge West Wing of terminal 1 is not the ideal place for a quiet moment. On the other hand, the catering offer means you can enjoy a full meal before boarding your next flight.
