Finnair is offering all members of its Finnair Plus loyalty program up to 50% discount on Avios purchased until 20 November 2024. I’ll tell you how to take advantage of this attractive promotion.
Buying Avios is useful:
- to top up an insufficient balance in order to qualify for an award
- when paying for a flight or upgrade with Avios costs less than the regular fare in hard currency
- to extend expiring Avios already in your account by 18 months.
Avios accrued in Finnair Plus are transferable to all the frequent flyer programs in the Avios ecosystem: British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus, Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Vueling Club and AerClub. You can therefore take benefit of the current Finnair promotion to top up your other Avios accounts indirectly.
Finnair usually sells Avios between EUR 0.027 and EUR 0.021 each (the higher the volume of Avios purchased, the lower the unit price per Avios ; the floor cost is reached from 100,000 Avios), up to a limit of 200,000 Avios per calendar year per member. Avios can be purchased in increments of 1,000.
During this special limited-time offer:
- buy between 5,000 and 19,000 Avios and get a 35% discount
- buy between 20,000 and 49,000 Avios and get a 40% discount
- buy between 50,000 and 74,000 Avios and get a 45% discount
- the maximum discount rate of 50% is granted from 75,000 Avios purchased.
As a result, the cost of acquiring an Avios drops to EUR 0.0105 for blocks of 100,000 Avios or more.
Before purchasing Avios, even on the occasion of a sale like this one, make sure that the desired award ticket is available and that the transaction is profitable (redemption value of the point greater than or equal to its purchase price).

Buy Avios with 50% discount
Although a 1-3 days processing time is announced, Avios are usually deposited into the Finnair Plus account within hours of payment.
The promotion also makes it possible to give Avios by crediting a third person’s account (“Gift Avios” module). The purchase limit of 200,000 Avios is assessed per beneficiary.
